FASHIONFriday
~Summer please don't go!~

unknown source, found on Pinterest

As the days get shorter and more than half of the summer months are over... slightly creeps in that feeling of loosing something...going back to grey, cool, more serious days at work and school and college. =(

But HEY, it's NOT OVER YET! =P

So let's get out those shorts, sunglasses, tanks, tube-tops, shell bracelets and messy beach hair again and keep wearing it all as long as we can until we get chilblained! ...
Keep up the Aloha-Feeling!

Tiki's DIYary #2 ^-^
...today :
~~ Chevron & Arrows doodle Bag ~~

Want it?...get it HERE

Hey fellow crafty-lovers!
. . .Finally I'm able to present another Making-Of! *yay*

This ain't really going to be a tutorial, because it's just too easy to do. . . ;)

But in case you're interested in watching the steps from a simple plain 1€ cotton tote to a unique handmade piece of Accessoire. . .
(that you can even purchase in my shop !!! =D)
. . . you might hopefully enjoy the following images. ^-^

All you need. . . (besides LOVE & fun ;b)

  • a plain natural white (or whatever uni-color you like) cotton bag
(You can find these easily on the internet, or at the  supermarket,. . . you know, the stuff the have under the checkout counter, where the plastic bags are, too. But maybe you need to search a little, till you find a supermarket that has NOT already prints of their logo on the bags. In Germany I found them in Kaufland stores.)
  • textile / laundry marker
(There are two different types. Next to the usually sold pens, that come in various colors and are washable till 30-60°C, there are these laundry markes, which are mostly black and withstand up to 90°C. I recommend those for durability, but you need to know, that they're not as saturated in color as the others! )
  • ruler (optional)
  • iron (for fixing the marker)

  • On one side, I wanted a chevron pattern.
. . .Simply started out with the first ziagzag lining.

Next thing is to decide about the width between the lines.
I made little dots for every edge point. (Think I measured it with the ruler. . .)

. . .That way you can simply connect the dots afterwards and draw
nice and straight lines without much effort.

    Leaf Umbrellas

Leaf from below...as seen on Indiana Public Media

Orang-Utan in the rain - found on Mongabay.com

In this ever more futuristic, technical-based and digitally controlled world we live in, isn't it revitalizing
to discover some more nature inspired design, that speaks to our archaic instincts and comforts some
    of our deeply rooted needs...?
    Like taking shelter.
In fact this might be one of THE most natural and basic instincts, that applies to all sentient beings!
Be it for rain or sun or to hide from predators, even animals use tools for taking shelter.

And humans surely did that since their earliest states of appearance on this earth.

So how about some Leaf-like designed Umbrellas today?! =)

The first one you might already know.
Droog Design presented the Shadylace Parasol, designed by Dutch Designer Chris Kabel a few years ago. On the big Interior Fair "immCologne" 2010 I had the pleasure to stand under it and enjoy the wonderful shadow plays it produces around you.
It's among the Top Sellers on Droog's site, still costs 235€.
One day I'll purchase one of these...hopefully. ;)
Oh, don't overlook the sweet birdie figure attached on top! =D

Oh, that reminds me on how urgently I need to write apost about Josh's work!!!
Stay tuned for that, or go find out yourself - that man's got a wicked talent!
