qick HUEsday ...sketching CI colors

aaaannnd. . . it's tueHUEsday again!
Man, how fast this week faded away. So much do-tos for college.
But . . . take this quick titbit of palette making from today's REviving my Colourlovers.com account

Started a tumblr microblog last week. . .
rather a personal virtual refugium for visualizing my dream of a life (to be) . . .
Maybe the universe will start turning spirits towards removing the barriers on my path to reach that dream. . .if only I visualize it often and stern enough ;b

Anyways: these were my color choices for the layout. Liked them enough to make a palette. . .

What do you think of it?! =)

~Urban planning research video~

Hey folks. . . today was reeeeaaally one of those days. . . X(

I don't want to get to much into this, but the reason for my bad day was not so much the task itself, that I had to finish for a presentation, but some technical problems. After 5h of working on a video we have to present on Wednesday (about a random city trip we had to do in groups, researching an area and stuff) the Movie Maker program hung itself due to my excessive cutting. . .
Having no choice but to restart the laptop, I found the file "broken" when I tried to open it again. . .
All self reminders for saving every other minute were useless... the well saved file couldn't be opened anymore.

-___-' yay!!!

BUT, I pulled myself together and did it all again. . .

Therefore, it's the simplest logical conclusion now, to take the finished mini-movie
- even though it looks rather like 12minutes, than 12hours of work
and post it here in the mondayMAKINGS today.

. . .Because it IS a HOLE MONDAYS work. . .

(P.S.: brief ad(d) - all songs used in the video are written and recorded by my little brother's one-man-band project. . .credits below)
Just a quick warning: since I was limited to a 3minutes presentation by the professor's order, the following footage might cause dizziness or epileptic fit

~ Young-Ha KIM: "Be an artist, right now." ~

Today I want to share someone's words with you, that I believe should be heard by anyone who ever felt the slightest hint of creativity-craving inside their souls. . . but hesitated to live it out loud.

Kim Young-Ha (Kim is the surname, which in Korean - as well as Japanese - usually precedes the first name)  is a Korean novelist, who has an outstanding talent in vivid storytelling and engages in encouraging children and everyone else, too, to believe in their artistic vocation and let their fantasy and imagination strive. . .

His talk on the TED conference gives an insight in the possibilities of cultivating arts and boosting (hidden?) talents in everyone of us. And he does it in a really humorous way! ;)

Only a few quotes of his site at TED's

“We are all born artists. . . . Almost everything kids do is art.”
“The magic question is, ‘What for?’ But art is not for anything. Art is the ultimate goal.”

But you should better listen by yourself. . .

rainy HUEsday ...need Coloooor!

. . .Bwah! . . .

That was not so nice of Mrs.Weather today. >.<''
Some mean windy fizzy raindrops falling and flying around. . . Not even the biggest Leaf Umbrella could keep you dry.
That kind of climate calls for some cheering up!!

And what could help better than a biiiig worshipping shout out to all the
GREEEEEENS of the world!? =D

~Tinkering with Paper~

Because of the tight schedule I had during the last week (4 family birthdays, college tasks, job and other organizational stuff) I'm still not able to show you some NEW "makings" here today. Sorry for that!!
But since no one knows my "old" stuff either,. . . (therefore wouldn't notice anyways) I suppose you won't mind when I post some crafty output from the last few years. ;b

Last week I showed a drawing, and the week before that there were also sketches and paintings. So I thought, why not go one dimension further and post 3D objects I (re-)designed. . .

I mentioned  my handmade goods shop on DaWanda.com before. . . And that I plan to build up on it in the near future . . .

SOOOooo looking forward to jump into that adventure!! =D

So, to let you get a hint of what it could - maybe . . . somehow - look like, what I'm going to offer there I'm posting some of the crafty designs I've made as presents for friends before.

I don't like giving loved ones something unpersonalized,. . .simply bought in a shop kinda stuff. All of my friends have more money than I do anyways, so they can better buy things they want for themselves. But what they're not so likely to do is create or design things for themselves.
So I take a chance whenever I can. ;b

Here are some more or less kitschy examples.
I know, things like that are maybe not necessarily suitable for the masses...
But for a handemade-business-to-be it's at least worth to work out...

Would YOU have liked these as a present?
Do you see yourself falling in love with a tinker thingy like that enough to purchase it?!

New to the schedule:
midweekMINDFUEL

THANKS to minnamay.com

As I stated before in my restart post, as part of this blog's development I wanna try keeping a regular posting schedule. . .next to random inspirations and discoveries. ;)

Normally, wednesdays are the busiest days of my week in college, which is why I thought it's best to keep it short then . . .

Therefore I'm going to just drop in some inspirational words, that - under all those miiiillions of quotes you can find on the web, these days - caught me most.

And hopefully these thoughts are going to call out to something inside you, too. . .

. . .Today's quote is mainly speaking for itself, I guess.

But since I find myself having more time today, than expected. . .I'm going to try being a little more specific about, why I choose this one.
(This might become awkward, as this could get a little deeper than a usual post... but whatever, right?! You can still decide whether to read or not, or you can just hate what I say and shout at me in the comments afterwards. . .;b)

Why it means something to me, is because I think I know a lot of people having some kind of a foggy idea of their "DREAM". . . but they don't really try to live up to it!
Most of them are simply not certain enough of what they want to do with their lives. They can't be blamed not to purchase their dreams, if they don't have something precise enough to put their finger on it, right?
But I believe they DO . . .somewhere in their soul. . .have a Dream / a purpose for being alive.
But because somewhere along the way they were taught to suppress daydreaming and focus more on "doing something's solid and more useful", they never allow themselves to really figure it out.

Personally, I've been lucky enough to have an outstandingly liberal education and my open-minded parents allowed - or even invited - me and my brothers to freely try ourselves to find out our strengths, our weaknesses and of course our passions.

Now here's the good thing for all, who weren't that lucky.
You can start EVERY single day anew!
If you don't know what your soul knows (. . .your purpose and special task in this world), it's never too late to find out.
Dare to think outside the box, defy yourself by trying different things, leave routines behind and take byroads or curved trails. . .
If I have learned ANYthing in life, it's that by taking detours you're mostly going to see and experience waaaay more beautiful things, than if you had walked straight towards the goal. . .

~Drawing a Dream Home~

Drawing of a Black Pearl Farm Hut - 2009
This drawing was made in 2009, when I had one of my peak phases of dreaming wildly about my future, and what I want to do with my live. . .
I was in preparation for the entrance exam and portfolio needed for architecture college, when I found a photo somewhere in the web of this stilt house. It immediately triggered fantasies of becoming a (pearl) diver, living a poor but happy life at a beautiful beach. . .
hahhh. . .
woudn't you want to live in that hut, too?! =)

Anyways, of course I had to draw it. And here it is.
Still not my house. . .not even similar to my current home, actually. . .(besides, maybe the leaky walls;b) but still loved and dreamed of.

Someday,. . . I'll built something like that and declare it HOME. ^^

. . . Who's with me?! . . .

Tiki's DIYary #2 ^-^
...today :
~~ Chevron & Arrows doodle Bag ~~

Want it?...get it HERE

Hey fellow crafty-lovers!
. . .Finally I'm able to present another Making-Of! *yay*

This ain't really going to be a tutorial, because it's just too easy to do. . . ;)

But in case you're interested in watching the steps from a simple plain 1€ cotton tote to a unique handmade piece of Accessoire. . .
(that you can even purchase in my shop !!! =D)
. . . you might hopefully enjoy the following images. ^-^

All you need. . . (besides LOVE & fun ;b)

  • a plain natural white (or whatever uni-color you like) cotton bag
(You can find these easily on the internet, or at the  supermarket,. . . you know, the stuff the have under the checkout counter, where the plastic bags are, too. But maybe you need to search a little, till you find a supermarket that has NOT already prints of their logo on the bags. In Germany I found them in Kaufland stores.)
  • textile / laundry marker
(There are two different types. Next to the usually sold pens, that come in various colors and are washable till 30-60°C, there are these laundry markes, which are mostly black and withstand up to 90°C. I recommend those for durability, but you need to know, that they're not as saturated in color as the others! )
  • ruler (optional)
  • iron (for fixing the marker)

  • On one side, I wanted a chevron pattern.
. . .Simply started out with the first ziagzag lining.

Next thing is to decide about the width between the lines.
I made little dots for every edge point. (Think I measured it with the ruler. . .)

. . .That way you can simply connect the dots afterwards and draw
nice and straight lines without much effort.

    Vernacular built-in Architecture...

For a seminar course in architectural constructions, I've been researching some vernacular architecture styles in different climate regions lately. By now I'm not feeling ready to write really competent info about it, but I noticed this much... People seem to have some kind of archaic interest to built-in their houses into landscapes...and not only easy to inhabit ones!!! o.Ô
It certainly gives an advantage in defense, when your home is camouflaged and hard to access by potential enemies and predators... But it also means a hardship on yourself when trying to get there I guess. ;b
Nevertheless I'd soooo allured to visit some of THESE following examples of (non-)architectural masterpieces in natural integration!!

Check them out! ^--^  ...  which one would you choose to live in for a while!?!?
(I know my pick damn well...can you guess?) ;b

    Midweekly Style check...

When it comes to creative inspirations, how could you not look over to Looks?
    ^^
Because of this year's epic duration of wintery climate here in Europe, (~yeah, THANKS "Global Warming"!~) some folks here wouldn't get too comfortable with getting out in spring fashion or anything lighter than a coat, boots and woolen tights.
But finally (!!!=D) since mid-April we are beginning to be slowly released from frost and grey skies.
    (at least for some days;))

It's time now to dare wearing lighter garments and let the air sneak through open jackets, shorter sleaves and...
how about getting out that pair of torn jeans again? ^^...

Here are some of my favorite ripped jeans stylings.
